Required Qualifications:
- NFPA Fire Officer III certification (or equivalent)
- NFA I-400 (or equivalent)
- NFA Incident Safety Officer
- Instructor II
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid SC Class E driver’s license (or equivalent)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience at Battalion Chief or higher
- Ability to successfully complete:
- Interview
- Criminal Background Check
- Drug Test
Strongly Desired:
- Fire Officer IV (or equivalent)
- EMT Basic certification (required within 2 years)
- NFPA Fire & Life Safety Educator
Position Details:
Exempt position with the starting annual pay of $84,957.12
- Essential Functions:
- Management Daily Operations
- Management of Training Program
- Incident Command/Leadership
- 6-month probationary period
- Biweekly pay schedule with direct deposit

- Once an application is submitted, applicants should wait for communication from the department. If an application is accepted, the applicant will be contacted no later than January 30, 2026, to be invited to an interview held during the week of February 9, 2026. Applicants will be notified of their interview time on or about February 6, 2026. Applicants arriving late will be removed from further consideration.
- Upon successful completion of the interview, a conditional job offer will be made on or about February 18, 2026, and the applicant chosen will complete the final phase of the employment process – a criminal background check, an NFPA 1582 physical, and a drug test.
- If a candidate fails any portion of the final phase, the department will determine if any of the other applicants will be considered for the position. If so, that applicant will become a candidate and move through the final phase. If not, additional application periods will be initiated until suitable candidates are found.
