Full Time Positions
Firefighter/EMT (NEW! 5/11/2017)
Flint Hill Fire District is pleased to announce applications are now being accepted for multiple Firefighter/EMT positions. The anticipated start date for the initial hires is on or after 7/1/2017.
This is an exciting and challenging time for the Flint Hill Fire District. We are experiencing explosive growth in both residential and commercial occupancies. We currently have over 25,000 residents in our district with hundreds of housing starts in progress or planned. Anyone who travels in the district recognizes our area is essentially an extension of the city of Charlotte. There is no better example of this than the latest commercial development about to get underway in our district. This planned urban development will be on the site of the former Knight Stadium and feature 16 high rise buildings of 10 stories or more. We already have over 900 commercial occupancies in the district.
Our incident volume reflects the urban nature of our 15.4 sq. mi. district. FHFD is on pace to respond to 1,500 incidents in 2017. This projection does not include initial dispatch to medical first responder incidents, which we anticipate will begin in June 2017. This will add an estimated 800 incidents to our annual total for a 2018 projection of 2,300 incidents.
We currently staff one station 24/7/365 with 5 firefighters. With the new hires we will staff a second station 24/7/365 with a new engine company. Initially we will have two 3 person engine companies (one at each station) with additional hires bringing each engine company to full crews of 4. Future plans call for staffing ladder and rescue companies, and the addition of a third station.
If you are interested in a becoming part of our rapidly growing fire department we encourage you to submit an application. Applications will be accepted until all positions are filled. Applications should be submitted by U.S. Mail, E-mail, or hand delivery. Click HERE for details.

The FHFD also has a volunteer live in program in which volunteers live at one of the department’s stations in return for responding to incidents during their duty hours.
